what do thehotel quarantine

contracts have todo with the

800 deadvictorians

The security firms that Trades Hall scrutinised and vetoed didn’t have enough security guards to meet their contracts, so they hired anyone they could in order to make up the numbers.  These casual employees were untrained and some didn’t take the job seriously. Many did try to do the right thing, but were unsupported.

That’s why the quarantine failed and 800 people died.

Having untrained and unsupported staff without proper safety systems of work is illegal in any Victorian workplace.  In the case of hotel quarantine, it also proved deadly.

So, will the people who ran those hotel quarantine workplaces get away with breaking workplace safety laws, killing 800 people and devastating the state of Victoria?

Or will WorkSafe follow the law and launch a prosecution?
